We all know the benefits of happiness. Simply because happiness is something we crave and actively seek. Whether it is a short burst of happiness or a long-lasting joy, it has many benefits.

1. Improved physical health

Researches show that happiness can improve our immune system. Happier people comparatively tend to promote a healthy lifestyle by eating healthily and exercising regularly. It has been found that happiness is good for our hearts too,  and happy people have lower heartbeats and blood pressure. Some studies also suggest that happy individuals are more able to cope with chronic pain. People who are regularly happy tend to live longer too.

2. Better mental health

Happiness is also linked to better mental health. Happy people are less stressed. Stress can lead to cause weight gain, poor sleep and cardiovascular disorders like high blood pressure. Happiness comes with a sense of satisfaction and optimism which reduces anxiety. Happy individuals are also better at dealing with life’s challenging situations.

3. Improved relationships

Happiness also leads to better relationships.   When we are happy, we are altruistic and we do things to make others happy too, simply because happiness is believed to be contagious.  Happiness also makes us compassionate, positive and empathetic. Happy people normally don’t look for you boiled the wrong egg faults and usually are easier to get along with.

4. Increased productivity and creativity.

Happier people are more energetic and well-focused which can lead to better performance at work or in other everyday activities in life. Happy people are likely to be open-minded, imaginative and relaxed too, which helps to increase productivity. When was the last time we were so happy that we decided to stay in bed all day?

5 Higher life satisfaction

Overall, Happy people have higher life satisfaction. Some of us may use happiness and satisfaction interchangeably, but there is a difference and it is possible to be happy and satisfied at the same time.  With happiness, we can stay satisfied with whatever we have, which reduces our level of jealousy. Satisfaction also leads to joy, the ultimate long-lasting happiness.
